You smile, that crooked little smile, and the pendant you wear, the one of the moon, lies upon your chest, where I’ve listened to your heartbeat...that safe place where I felt the coldness of that pendant become warm. Fate plays with fools just as much as it plays with winners. I’m not sure which one we are.
This I know.
We are speeding up, like the universe.
You and I, faster and faster.
Someday we will be nothing but speed, eternal hurrying, a blur, consonants & vowels blended into mush. There may be times in the future when we misunderstand each another.
But I’m here
Now,
To form no words, just caress our created warmth, hold up the sky with you.
Forget reading the stars, their letters are in disarray, light years away from creating sentences. We will move and become nothing but movement...yet still lie together, inseparable like Earth and moon, while dark matter stretches galaxies into nothing but the faintest of glimmer and all stories cease.
Yesss keep it coming! 😀 ☕️ ☕️
I’d be very interested to know how / what medium you use to make these …I feel like maybe I’ve asked or read before so it could be a repeating question and if so I’m sorry lol 😬
Do you mean the images or my writing? Since you’re asking on a poem, the answer is that I just write them from scratch, from a kernel of an idea onto a Word program and edit from there. LMK, if you meant the images. I’m more than happy to tell you.
The images! I realized after I wrote my comment I should’ve differentiated but I also love to hear people’s creative process with writing too, since that always fascinates me. 😊 Would love to hear about the images, they are very deep so I don’t know if you’re taking real images of like maybe like a lake for instance (in your earlier posts) and adding certain elements but they look amazing ✨
They’re a combination. Some are just straight up DSLR like the frozen lake, cougar tracks, and mountain like in The Tasks of Psyche post. So, I’m out on a trail with a somewhat large camera with a somewhat large lens and brining back the images home. This began with my passion for running trails out in the wilderness. After a few years of running trails, I realized I was seeing too much cool stuff. So, with cameras these days, there are small ones that have mega pixel capacity. I bought a small point and shoot and took/take it with me on trail runs. Instead of a phone, I have a camera in my hand like a baton in a relay race. I tende to like macros. So things like twigs, seeds, leaves, strange shapes in nature, I would stop running for second, and take a few clicks of them. When I bring them back home, I start to notice shapes of other things inside them. So, I experiment with collaging them, and/or meld them together into shapes. But I needed something more, so I transfer them from Photoshop to Illustrator, back and forth, drawing on certain parts of them or taking a very simple hand drawn image and manipulating it into the collage of photos. I’m not using generated stuff or clips, or whatever from the web. So, to answer it in a nutshell, I’m taking “real” images like the lake and adding other “real” images, and doing a little drawing as well. The moon here on this post is actually a wet ring on a piece of paper from the bottom of a coffee cup (Yep, coffee! I did it accidentally!) I then painted on watered down brown, black, and blue water colors. Took a ruler and a pencil and drew lines. Then, I took a photo of it. Put it in Photoshop. I drew stars and what not. Then, I transferred it over to Illustrator and drew the skull-like face on it because I needed a more accurate type of drawing medium. Transferred it back to Photoshop and layered it with a couple of filters. That’s it. Kind of a long explanation, but you asked. Lol
This is awesome! And I appreciate highly the long explanation so no worries at all! 😊 what kind of camera do you use if you don’t mind me asking? I love macro shots too, leaves and things like that, and yeah you can see so many beautiful things it’s hard not to stop and take pics. Haha! Love the part about the coffee cup ☕️ too! 😂 lots of inspiration from caffeine. The moon shot is too awesome!
DSLR is a Nikon D750. I use three lenses with it, AF-S Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR, Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8, and a AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.4G ED. I usual keep the 28-300 on the camera until I come across something I need a different lens for. For running I use a Nikon Coolpix A300. They’re pretty durable. They’re cheap. The burner phone for cameras. And they do a surprisingly good job just on automatic.
Thank you so so much, that’s too cool. I appreciate that. I have a Canon T7 I’m still trying to learn the ropes on but maybe if I wear hiking I wouldn’t necessary want something so cumbersome which is why I usually use the phone. Either way, everything looks great! I appreciate the details
Yeah, phones are fine. I just have my own aversion to them. I don’t take mine with me anywhere most of the time. Thanks Laura. Chat with you soon! Take care!
Breathtaking, literally. The poem with its anchoring artwork, holds your attention, forcing you to read every word from start to finish in a single breath.
This art looks interesting, as if it’s similar to the face of our coconut. But, it’s more beautiful, of course. I love your poem talking something about universe and galaxies, which are things that also fascinate me. Well done, ahzio
