The Moon and the Volcano

Ingredients: Rain, Light, Sky, Reflection, & Camera

This image is a reflection. It is water during a rainstorm travelling through a chute. The image was taken at dusk, creating the dark blue sky. The moon is a streetlamp’s reflection, but it is also the reason the water has reds, yellows, and looks like flame and lava.

Amazing! If you hadn’t explained the elements, I’d never have imagined!

I kind of figured that. So, I felt it was important to explain the process. Thanks!

Reflections have mesmerized me ever since I can remember. Light shining on water, the moon mirrored by the lake (the zen allegory), now that’s inspired. To have caught this moment on film, that is talent.

Thanks so much! It was accidental. I was running by it when it started to rain and become dark.
